Edwina Bartholomew has revealed she often counts to 100 to get her toddler to sleep.

The Sunrise host, who is a mother-of-two young children, made the revelation on Brekky Central on Friday, while speaking to sleep expert Dr Michael Breus.

“I count to 100 to get my toddler to sleep every night,” Edwina said.

Edwina admitted she finds the trick works on herself, too.

“I sort of find myself dropping off as well,” she added.

Michael joined the show to discuss strategies on how to fall asleep and noted that alcohol affects sleep — and not for the better.

“Believe it or not, more people use alcohol to help them sleep than any other substance,” he said.

“But it actually destroys deep sleep and physical restoration.

“Half the reason you get a hangover is from lack of deep sleep and the other half is from dehydration.”

Michael said it was important to “limit alcohol” and to give yourself enough time between “your last drink and bedtime” to ensure a good night’s sleep.

Edwina is mother to Molly, 4, and Tom, 1.

Just last week, the Sunrise star wished Molly a “happy birthday” on the show.

Sharing the entertainment news about US star Billie Eilish’s appearance on the US skit show Saturday Night Live, Edwina first told viewers it was the singer’s birthday.

“Billie is celebrating her 22nd birthday today, alongside other major stars,” Edwina said.

Edwina then let the panel know it was her daughter’s birthday.

“And my daughter, Molly, who shares a birthday with Keith Richards,” she said.

Eddy and husband Neil Varcoe welcomed their second child, Thomas, in March last year.

She announced the happy news on Instagram, with a heartfelt post.

“Some small news from our family,” she wrote.

“Thomas Donald Elliott Varcoe born on the 1st of March, 2022.”
